Milwaukee law firm donates defibrillator in honor of Special Olympian

Milwaukee-based Hupy and Abraham, S.C., has donated an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) device to Special Olympics of Wisconsin in memory of William Scherer, a former Special Olympian was was kept alive by an AED until hospital arrival.

At a Special Olympics event in 2011, an incident occurred where there was no AED on site or in the police squad upon arrival. A responding officer recalled an AED at the police station next door to the field, which had been previously donated to the Milwaukee Police Department by Hupy and Abraham, S.C.
Kelly Lang of Special Olympics of Wisconsin, Greater Milwaukee Region 8, located at 10224 North Port Washington Road in Mequon as well as several athletes were on hand to accept the donation at a special ceremony this week. Attorney Michael Hupy presented the AED to the athletes and representatives of Special Olympics.
