Milwaukee County gets $3.2 million in federal funds for buses

Milwaukee County will receive $3.24 million from the federal government for buses and bus infrastructure, Sen. Herb Kohl, D-Wisconsin, announced.
The state of Wisconsin is getting a total of $11.78 million in federal funds for buses, including the money for Milwaukee County, Kohl said.

The funds will be used to purchase new buses, maintain bus facilities and update equipment.
“Public transportation is key to connecting people with job and education opportunities,” Kohl said. “Buses are a central component of public transportation systems and it is essential that these systems are maintained and kept in good working condition to allow individuals the mobility they need to get back and forth from their jobs, their schools, or even the grocery store.”
