Scott Schaefer bought the 3,920-square-foot restaurant at 1013 N. Old World Third St. from the Thomas P. Ehr and Yvette R. Ehr Irrevocable Trust in Wauwatosa for $1.2 million. The property is assessed for $316,000.

Schaefer plans to expand the single-story Milwaukee Brat House to the second level, which will be used for overflow restaurant crowds and events.

Schaefer, who opened the restaurant in May 2008, said he has a lot of requests for parties and he can’t accommodate them.  The second floor, which will add an additional 2,600 square feet, will allow for more events, Schaefer said.

The $200,000 project will be finished Sept. 1.

“We’re hoping to be ready in time for the next season at the Bradley Center,” Schaefer said.
