The 2013 Forbes List of the World’s Billionaires again reached all-time highs, both terms of the number of billionaires (1,426) and combined net worth ($5.4 trillion).
Carlos Slim Helu, honorary chairman of America Movil, a Mexican telecommunications company, remains the richest person in the world with an estimated net worth of $73 billion. Next on this year’s list are Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, ($67 billion); Spaniard Amancio Ortega of Inditex and the Zara fashion house, $57 billion; and Warren Buffett, CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, $53.5 billion.
