Meijer partners with Boys & Girls Clubs for back-to-school shopping

Organizations:

After opening new store locations in Oak Creek and Wauwatosa on Tuesday, Meijer welcomed 25 Boys & Girls Clubs members to its Oak Creek site to jumpstart their back-to-school shopping.

The Grand Rapids, Mich.-based grocery retailer donated $25 gift cards to all 25 students, who came from Boys & Girls Clubs’ Daniels-Mardak location in Milwaukee.

Students shopped on Tuesday for backpacks, lunch boxes, crayons and more beside Hank Meijer, co-chairman of Meijer and J.K. Symancyk, president.

Meijer’s Oak Creek store is set in the Drexel Town Square development. The Wauwatosa location is at 11111 W. Burleigh Street.

The stores are two of several that Meijer plans to open in southeastern Wisconsin as it expands into the state. In late June Meijer opened stores in Grafton and Kenosha.

The company plans to open stores in Waukesha and Sussex in 2016, and also plans to eventually open stores in West Bend, Greenfield, Sheboygan and the Green Bay area.
