Meet-Meme reveals plans for SXSW scavenger hunt

Milwaukee-based Meet-Meme, Inc., announced in February it’s plans to host a social media scavenger hunt at this year’s South by Southwest, a music, film and interactive media festival held in Austin, Texas March 11 through March 20. Details of that contest, the Super Social Scavenger Hunt, were unveiled this week.
“We really wanted to come up with a fun interactive way for people to not only meet some of the festival’s ‘social media greats’ but also to network with others playing the game and simply be engaged,” said Andy Wright, co-founder of Meet-Meme.
The scavenger hunt will be held March 10 through March 14 and involves attendees at the festival collecting Meet-Meme cards from social and interactive media ‘celebrities.’
“It’s a pretty amazing list,” said Jonathan Brewer, co-founder of Meet-Meme. “We’ve built relationships with these people through Meet-Meme and basically through online interaction. We didn’t have to beg anyone or work a deal, we just asked and everyone said they’d be honored and excited to be a part of it.”
The list includes local individuals on the social scene including members of Meet-Meme and the Milwaukee Beer and Brat Bash, but also involves members from the company Klout.
“We were really fortunate to get Klout on board for the hunt,” Brewer said. “We plan on rolling out a new card feature near the end of March that will allow people to display their Klout score on their cards. It’s part of our overall goal to continue bridging the online world with the offline.”
The results of the contest will be announced at the Milwaukee Beer and Brat Bash in Austin, Texas which will be held on Monday, March 14. According to Brewer a Leader Board will be established and displayed in a few areas throughout the festival. Attendees can win either by collecting cards from complete teams or collecting everyone’s cards. Participants are also encouraged to Tweet when they collect cards for chances to win random prize drawings throughout the festival.
