ManpowerGroup hires 100 at headquarters

Renovates a floor to accommodate new employees

Organizations:

Global staffing firm ManpowerGroup has hired 100 new employees at its Milwaukee headquarters and has been increasing the headcount at three other major sites to drive a new recruitment initiative.

The company launched its Centers of Recruiting Excellence (CORE) model about a year ago to provide a centralized group of resources for sourcing, screening and task-based recruiting support. There are four CORE sites, including the Milwaukee headquarters. CORE is particularly suited to large scale recruitment of entry level workers, said Todd Filter, market vice president for Wisconsin and Northern Illinois.

ManpowerGroup has 27,000 employees at 2,900 offices worldwide. There are now about 900 employees at the headquarters. At the end of 2015, ManpowerGroup completed a renovation of the second floor of its 280,000-square-foot, four-story headquarters to accommodate the 100 new employees. It includes collaborative work areas and amenities such as ping-pong tables, Filter said.

“The entire second floor now has been gutted, renovated and kind of recast in a more of a high-tech, Silicon Valley feel,” he said. “This is a much more open floor plan, it’s short walls, you’ve got all the…different configurations of work areas. It’s much more open and free flowing than you would expect in a corporate environment.”

CORE supports all of ManpowerGroup’s divisions. While the company has had centralized recruiting for some time, the model pulls some of the large candidate pool project work done in the field into the office in a more formal structure, Filter said. It’s more efficient to complete mass submittal of candidates in a central location.

“We’re taking business in from the field from all over the U.S. and Canada,” he said.

Field employees can now focus on more niche, higher touch candidate vetting, Filter said. ManpowerGroup has recently acquired some clients that have strong seasonal cycles, so the additional employees on the CORE team allow the flexibility to ramp up when needed.

“We’re really just evolving our service delivery to match what our clients are now expecting,” he said.

Representatives for ManpowerGroup said they could not provide any further information about the renovation or the other CORE locations.
