Camera crews from The Travel Channel’s show Food Wars will be in Milwaukee Thursday, May 6 through Saturday, May 8 to film the face off between Milwaukee’s classic burger joint Sobelman’s and burger joint new-comer AJ Bombers. The show will determine which restaurant serves up the best “Milwaukee Burger.”
According to Joe Sorge, owner of AJ Bombers, the two restaurants will compete using the single burger straight off each of their menus. They will be judged on which burger tastes better when prepared with the chosen iconic Milwaukee burger toppings. Sorge is going to let fans submit topping choices for the burger. Dave Sobelman, owner of Sobelman’s Pub and Grill said the officiall rules of the face off have yet to be determined, but he plans to, in his words, ‘bring it on.’
"I’ve been doing this for over ten years," Sobelman said. "I told (Joe) when the competition was announced that he should do his thing, and I’ll do mine and we’d see what happened."
Sobelman calls his burgers works of art.
"I think I have a better burger," Sobelman said. "The burgers here are beautiful. I always say that presentation is more than half the battle and the way we put our burgers together Picasso would be jealous. They really look and taste that good."

"It’s the science of our burger that will prevail," Sorge said. "The perfect ratio of beef to toppings to bun… I can’t wait for the showdown."
The crew will film one day at each location, and will choose a neutral third site for the taste off. That site has yet to be determined officially, but is rumored to be Milwaukee’s Lakefront Brewery.
The restaurant that wins Food Wars gets the honor of listing Milwaukee’s best burger on their menu, exactly the way that it was prepared for the competition.  The Travel Channel hopes to air the Milwaukee episode within a month or so of shooting and expects to highlight much of the city of Milwaukee in the episode.
