Local companies receive well workplace accreditation

Well City Milwaukee recently celebrated its second annual Progress Report and Celebration Event at the Marcus Center for Performing Arts, 929 N. Water St.. The event recognized those employers who received well workplace accreditation.

Employers that received well workplace accreditation included Aurora Health Care, Helwig Carbon Products, Inc., of Milwaukee, Northwestern Mutual, Pyra Max Bank, We Energies and Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare.

The well workplace/Well City initiative challenges local business communities to work toward building healthier communities, starting with the workplace.

The primary requirement of achieving a Well City USA designation is that 20 percent of a community’s working population must be employed by Well Workplace Award-winning companies.

Milwaukee currently has 52 employer member companies that represent 90,000 employees working toward Well Work Place accreditation.

According to Well City Milwaukee executive director Janet McMahon, Milwaukee has set a goal to become a recognized Well City in 2010.
