Jumpstart on the Weekend

*Friday, Oct. 19, the Milwaukee Art Museum will host its annual MAM After Dark party. This month’s theme, British Invasion, will feature live cover music by The Ricochettes and recorded music by DJ Lemonie Fresh; a curator-guided tour of the Rembrandt; Van Dyck, Gainsborough exhibit; and a vintage fashion show. The event will be held at the museum, 700 N. Art Museum Drive in Milwaukee. Admission is free for museum members and free for attendees who become members at the door. *Friday, Oct. 19, and Saturday, Oct. 20, Gallery Night and Day will open 70 locations throughout downtown Milwaukee and give art lovers an opportunity to see works by local talent. The 25-year-old event, presented four times a year by the Historic Third Ward Association, is free to community members and includes admission to galleries like the Haggerty Museum of Art at Marquette University and Hotel Metro. Event hours run 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, but individual galleries establish their own hours. *Saturday, Oct. 20, the Harley-Davidson Museum will host Halloween at Motor Bar & Restaurant, a family-fun event featuring pumpkin-decorating and refreshments.
