Kenosha-based Jockey International Inc. announced the appointment of Byron Norfleet as president and chief operating officer.

Norfleet will succeed Ed Emma, who will transition to the new role of consultant to the chief executive officer on Dec. 14.

“Under Ed Emma’s leadership, Jockey experienced a period of remarkable growth and expansion. He is leaving behind a rich legacy, and we are deeply thankful for his extraordinary stewardship of the Jockey brand,” said Jockey chairman of the board and CEO Debra Waller. “As we look to the future, we are fortunate to have an exceptionally skilled and experienced leader in Byron Norfleet. Norfleet joined Jockey in 2010 with more than 25 years of apparel, footwear and retail industry experience. As Jockey’s president of North America wholesale and licensing, Norfleet led several successful initiatives including new product introductions and robust expansion. He spearheaded the Coopers by Jockey launch at Nordstrom, Jockey’s shapewear collaboration with Yummie Tummie and the new JKY by Jockey collection at Target.

Prior to joining Jockey, Norfleet held management roles at PMI, Brown Shoe Company and Genesco.

“Jockey is an iconic American brand with a rich history and an exciting future,” said Norfleet. “I’m eager for the opportunity to capitalize on the company’s strong momentum and drive continued innovation and growth for the brand.”
