Indoor dog training facility to open on Brady Street

Organizations:

Zoom Room, a social, agility training gym for dogs and their owners will host a grand opening celebration on Saturday, July 9 at its new location 1701 N. Humboldt Ave., on the corner of Brady Street in Milwaukee.
“The Brady Street area is a notoriously dog-friendly neighborhood,” said Gretchen Kabler, Milwaukee Zoom Room franchisee owner. “It’s a highly active area with lots of foot traffic and is one of a few places in Milwaukee that can be considered a destination. Everybody knows where Brady Street is and the clientele in that area is a great match for the Zoom Room brand.”
The Zoom Room is focused on enhancing the bond between owner and dog and will teach owners how to train their dogs in agility, obedience, scent tracking and other activities, Kabler said.
“It’s a social atmosphere,” Kabler said. “We are not trying to target the competitive agility crowd, our space isn’t big enough for that. We’re here to provide a place where people can enjoy quality social time with their dogs. It’s phenomenal exercise for the dogs both physically and mentally.”
The 2700 square-foot space, formerly a coin operated laundry facility, was renovated to fit the needs of the dog training facility.
“We underwent some major renovations,” she said. “It doesn’t look anything like the old coin laundry; we opened up the large windows on Brady Street to allow visibility inside the facility. It really changes the look of the whole space.”
Dog owners and their dogs are invited to attend free dog agility classes on Saturday, July 9 at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., Kabler said.
The celebration will continue from 6 to 10 p.m. with a Doggy Disco party, food, refreshments, and a canine caricature artist. The entire day is free and open to the public but advance registration is requested.
For every advance RSVP, Zoom Room will donate $5 to the Wisconsin Humane Society. In addition, six-year-old Kian Green will be in attendance selling his self-designed “Puppies Need Hugs” t-shirts as a fund-raiser for the WHS. Kian started his “Puppies Need Hugs” campaign after learning about the plight of dogs in puppy mills while adopting his puppy from WHS.  He will donate $10 and Zoom Room will donate an additional $5 to the WHS for every t-shirt sold.
In addition to group and private classes, the new Zoom Room serves as a dedicated event center for dog birthday parties, charitable fundraisers and other canine events.  For more information, or to pre-register for the event  visit http://zoomroom.me/MilwGO.
