Historic Milwaukee names new executive director

Historic Milwaukee, Inc. has appointed Stacy Swadish executive director, following the leave of former executive director Anna-Marie Opgenorth in August.

 

Swadish brings more than 25 years of experience as a nonprofit manager, fundraiser and journalist to her new leadership role. Prior to joining Historic Milwaukee, she served as vice president for development for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Milwaukee. Her career has also included work for Alverno College and the School Sisters of St. Francis.

Swadish earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a master’s degree in business: organizational leadership and quality from Marian University. She holds the Certified Fundraising Executive credential as well.

Historic Milwaukee is a nonprofit organization that aims to build awareness around Milwaukee’s history and architecture and preserve the city’s “built environment.” The organization, which has more than 1,000 members, has become known for its guided architectural walking tours, panel discussions on city development, and annual public events such as Doors Open Milwaukee and Envisioning the Seen.
