The Menomonee Falls-based private nonprofit university operator is proposing to remodel the 23,000-square-foot former grocery store at 15895 W. Bluemound Road, according to plans submitted to the city. Herzing’s current Brookfield campus is located in a 15,000-square-foot building at 555 S. Executive Drive. That location opened in 2010.

Herzing’s proposed move comes as Landmark Credit Union works on plans to move its headquarters from New Berlin to the current Herzing University Brookfield site.

The company announced last week it plans to buy the 19.5-acre site at 555 S. Executive Drive, where it would tear down the existing structure and build a 150,000- to 160,000-square-foot office building to house its headquarters and training facilities.

Landmark has said it is in the “early stages” of due diligence on the site.

Herzing’s current lease expires in August 2020, but Landmark’s plans would force Herzing to vacate the site before then, according to plans submitted to the city.

Herzing has 45 full-time staff and instructors and about 250 students at its Brookfield campus.

It offers degrees in practical nursing, nursing and physical therapy assisting.

The plan commission will consider today Herzing’s request for a conditional use public hearing to remodel the site.

Fresh Market Inc. announced in July 2018 it would close its Brookfield and Fox Point grocery stores.
