The two new motorcycle models recently unveiled by Milwaukee-based Harley-Davidson Inc. will be manufactured at the company’s plant in Kansas City, Mo., according to a report by The Kansas City Star.
Next year, the motorcycle maker will begin selling the Street 500 and Street 750 models, the company’s first lightweight models in decades. The Kansas City plant will build them for U.S. buyers and the company’s plant in Bawal, India, will build them for international customers.
In the United States, the bikes will carry $6,700 to $7,500 price tags, the lowest-priced bikes the company offers.
The new models, while lighter, will have the Harley-Davidson sound, a lean chassis, super-low seat height and a broad handlebar sweep. With a new fuel-injected and liquid-cooled engine, they are the first all-new platform from Harley in 13 years.
