Grand opening Monday for veterans apartments

A grand opening event will be held on Monday, May 30, to celebrate the completion of the Thomas H. Wynn Memorial Apartments: Veterans Manor, at the northeast corner of Wisconsin Avenue and North 35th Street in Milwaukee. The building was develped by the Center for Veterans Issues (CVI) and Cardinal Capital Management.

The four-story, 52-unit apartment building will provide homes for low income veterans. The apartments, all one-bedroom units, will be on the upper three floors. The first floor will be split with tenant amenities and building operations occupying half and the remaining space will be occupied by a commercial kitchen leased to and operated by the Milwaukee Center for Independence and a storefront bistro style Troop Cafe, which will be owned and operated by CVI and its veterans. The cafe will open this summer and will serve meals to the community.
