Globall Giving seeking volunteers for mission trip

Globall Giving, a Port Washington-based nonprofit organization that collects baseball, basketball and soccer equipment to donate to underprivileged children overseas, is recruiting volunteers for its first mission trip abroad.

Mark Rolison, founder of Globall Giving, will lead a group of nine volunteers to Liberia in West Africa this December to help facilitate a youth soccer camp, teach underprivileged children basic life skills, and bring donations of sporting goods.

The trip has been made possible by a partnership between Rolison and Doc Lawson, an Olympian and former professional soccer player who is a native of Liberia and founded an organization called Donami Sport to empower and educate Liberia’s younger generations.

The trip will run from Dec. 15-23. Cost is $1,750 per person plus airfare. The cost covers all expenses besides alcohol and souvenirs.

Rolison, who has led five international Habitat for Humanity trips, encourages anyone interested to contact him for more information. Participants must be at least 18 years old and in good health.

While international travel experience is ideal, it is not required. Volunteers also do not need to be skilled in soccer.

Rolison said he looking for individuals who are “semi athletic” and who have “an open heart.”

“(This trip) just advances our mission further for our cause,” Rolison said.

Volunteers will be selected on a first come, first served basis. Interested volunteers can contact Rolison at (414) 745-8543 or mark.rolison@globallgiving.org.
