Innovation: Smart Management Module
Waukesha-based Generac Power Systems is committed to providing innovative, cost saving solutions to the marketplace. The Smart Management Module is a generator load management system that allows homeowners to purchase a smaller, more cost-effective backup power system by giving them the ability to prioritize which circuits receive power during an outage.
The SMM works seamlessly with a compatible transfer switch to monitor selected circuits.
Homeowners have the ability to prioritize specific circuits to receive power first and later push power to non-essential circuits as it becomes available. Up to eight modules can be installed and prioritized or set in lockout mode for loads that do not need to run in an outage.
By monitoring the frequency of power being produced by the standby generator, the modules can make sure the generator is not overloaded during an outage.
The unit is protected in a weatherproof enclosure, making it compatible for indoor and outdoor use.
The introduction of the Smart Management Module is an example of the company’s commitment to ensuring that automatic backup power systems are available for all homeowners, said Russ Minick, executive vice president of North American sales.
Since no control wires are required, installation is easier for homeowners and installation costs are lower.
