Milwaukee-based Gener8tor, a startup accelerator that also assists early-stage companies in Madison, has been ranked among the top 15 accelerators in the country by the Seed Accelerator Rankings Project.
The project, in its fourth year, serves to point entrepreneurs in the direction of accelerators that have a proven track record of growing and scaling startups.
Gener8tor was listed at No. 14 with 20 accelerators total named to the list.
“This annual ranking is aimed to start a broader conversation about what makes a great accelerator and inform entrepreneurs who are choosing between programs to apply to,” Yael Hochberg, managing director of the project and an entrepreneurship and finance professor at Rice University’s Jones Graduate School of Business, said in a press release.
Project rankings were announced on Tuesday at SXSW (South by Southwest), an Austin, Texas-based technology, culture and music festival.
This year is the first that Gener8tor allowed the Seed Accelerator Rankings Project to access its startup outcome data in order to be considered for the final rankings.
“This ranking reflects the tremendous accomplishments of the entrepreneurs we’ve had the privilege to invest in over the past 32 months,” said Joe Kirgues, co-founder of Gener8tor.
“We’re thrilled to be recognized as a top 15 accelerator,” said Troy Vosseller, another co-founder. “To be ranked in the top 15, in any category, is a true honor. We look forward to these rankings shining an even brighter light on Wisconsin’s startup community.”
Along with Kirgues and Vosseller, Dan Armbrust, Jon Eckhardt and Joel Abraham established Gener8tor in 2012. The accelerator is now accepting applications from entrepreneurs for its 2015 Milwaukee program. For more information, visit www.gener8tor.com.
