Gauthier Biomedical Inc. plans to build a new 60,000-square-foot corporate headquarters in Grafton, which will be more than double the size of the company’s existing headquarters in the village.
The new facility will be built on a 10-acre site on Highway 60, just west of Port Washington Road, in the Grafton Corporate Park. Construction is expected to begin in January and be complete by October 2011. Rosemont, Ill.-based Opus North Corp. will design and build the facility.
Gauthier Biomedical designs and manufactures spinal and orthopedic surgical instruments. The new facility in Grafton will provide expanded engineering and production capacity for the development of those instruments.
The company is currently located at 1235 N. Dakota Dr., Suite G, in Grafton. It currently has about 60 employees and will have about 70 employees when it moves to the new location, a spokeswoman for the company said. The new facility will have room to eventually add an additional 75 employees.
“We are pleased with the tremendous growth of the company,” said Michael Gauthier, president of Gauthier Biomedical. “It is a testament to the exceptional work of our employees and the quality and innovation of our products.”
The new two-story building will have 28,000 square feet of office space and 32,000 square feet of manufacturing space.
