Eppstein Uhen to design new Uline HQ

Milwaukee-based Eppstein Uhen Architects has been hired by Uline Inc. to design the company’s new corporate headquarters and a distribution center, which will be built in Pleasant Prairie.

Uline, a distributor of shipping, industrial and packaging materials, will move from Waukegan, Ill. to a new, 200,000-square-foot headquarters building that will be built southwest of I-94 and Highway 165. The company will bring about 1,000 jobs to Wisconsin by 2010. The company’s new headquarters building will house sales, marketing, IT, merchandising and finance professionals. In addition to office space, the headquarters will include conference rooms, training areas, fitness facilities, a data center and a cafeteria.

The 1-million-square-foot distribution center will consist of warehouse space, shipping and receiving docks and office areas.

Construction on the new headquarters is expected to begin later this year.

"We are thrilled to be working with Uline on creating a unique and flexible headquarters facility," said Eppstein Uhen principal John Chapman. "This facility will be wonderful for Uline employees and its Wisconsin location is beneficial for the state as well."
