Entries being accepted for Business Plan Contest

Organizations:

The Wisconsin Technology Council is accepting entries for the 2014 Governor’s Business Plan Contest, its annual statewide competition to recognize entrepreneurial ideas, through Jan. 31.

Contestants can submit 250-word business ideas at www.govsbizplancontest.com.

More than 85 people, including early stage investors, financial professionals and successful entrepreneurs, have volunteered to judge the entries.

The four-phase contest pairs expert mentors with contestants and provides judge feedback at each phase.

“This talented cross-section of judges and mentors allows for a thorough review of contest entries – as well as valuable feedback to contestants from people who know their way around technology, investing and business,” said Tom Still, president of the WTC.

The contest has been held since 2004 to encourage entrepreneurs in the seed, startup and early growth stages of high-tech businesses. It gives them exposure and spurs economic growth across Wisconsin, and finalists share more than $100,000 of in-kind prizes.

The Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. is a major sponsor of the contest, which has led to the launch of several companies that have created jobs and economic value while raising more than $70 million in grants, loans and private equity financing.
