Dorner Manufacturing Corp. is planning a 25,000-square-foot addition to its 100,000-square-foot manufacturing facility.
“The business has been growing over the last two years to a point where the volume requires us to have more manufacturing space,” said director of operations Randy Meis.
The conveyor systems manufacturer has achieved growth in the high teens to low 20 percent range each year for the last two years, he said. The growth is attributed in part to expanded sales in all markets, more aggressive marketing and sales plans, and new products.
Meis said the plan is for the addition to be completed by late November and for it to be fully operational by the start of 2016.
Dorner also anticipates buying a laser and brake press in addition to hiring four people over the next six to nine months.
Hartland’s Architectural Board and Plan Commission will consider the building plans later today. Then the Hartland Village Board will make final approval on May 26.
“Assuming all goes as planned, we’ll break ground shortly after June 1,” Meis said.
Meis did not disclose financial details of the addition.
