Deal of the Week: Slinger Speedway owner buys Little Switzerland property

Learn more about:

Wayne Erickson, the owner of the Slinger Super Speedway racetrack recently purchased the former Little Switzerland ski hill property from Little Switzerland Inc. for $1 million.

The Little Switzerland property is located at 105 Cedar Creek Road, just south of the Slinger Super Speedway property at 280 Cedar Creek Road.
Little Switzerland closed in 2007 after 66 years of operation.

Slinger Super Speedway will spend the next few months evaluating what to do with the Little Switzerland property.

“Right now, we’re just evaluating everything,” said Slinger Super Speedway spokesman Todd Thelen. “We have to figure out where we are going to go (with the property) during the next couple of months. We’re controlling our future by owning the property.”

The property could be re-opened as a ski hill, Thelen said.

“In a perfect world it would be nice to open it up as a ski hill again,” he said. “We do not plan on developing that property.”

However, the previous owners of the ski hill auctioned off much of its equipment. Therefore, it would take a significant investment to re-open the property as a skill hill. If it re-opens as a skill hill the operation will be small at first, Thelen said.

For years, Slinger Super Speedway has used about 6-8 acres of the Little Switzerland property for parking. That will continue, Thelen said.

The Little Switzerland property has a total of 60 to 80 acres, “depending on how you break it up,” Thelen said. Part of the property includes a home.
