Joint Finance Committee Co-chair Alberta Darling, a River Hills Republican, continues to be the best fundraiser among the state senators targeted for recall.
Between March 22 and April 18, she raised $232,714, spent $190,846 and had $219,731 cash on hand. She has now raised $421,940 since the beginning of the year.
That so far dwarfs the efforts of the other state senators targeted for recall whose latest reports have been posted to the Government Accountability Board site. Darling also bested the others on the first round of fundraising reports.
Bob Wirch, D-Kenosha, is the only other southeast Wisconsin legislator to have recall papers filed against him so far, although there is a group working to recall Sen. Glenn Grothman, R-West Bend. That group has until Monday to file its signatures.
For the reporting period from March 22 to April 18, Wirch raised $7,938, spent $136 and had $101,007 cash on hand. Since Jan. 1, he’s raised $50,965.
Grothman raised $58,580, spent $1,987 spent and had $79,188 cash on hand along with $8,378 in debts. Since Jan. 1, he’s raised $75,333.
In all recall signatures have or are shortly due to be filed against nine state senators  — six Republicans and three Democrats. Republicans control the chamber now, and Dems would have to win a net three seats in the recall elections this summer to take control of the chamber. The GAB wants to have the elections on July 12.
