What does your daily or weekly fitness regime consist of? Generally I engage in a strenght and conditioning fitness program three times per week. It involves 5k runs, sprints, stairs, pushups and more.
What fitness clubs do you belong to, if any? Miwaukee Athletic Club, Wisconsin Athletic Club
Other than the obvious health benefits, how has being fit improved your life? I have not outgrown my clothing which means I don’t need to spend time shopping, which is one of my least favorite things to do. Seriously, it feels great to be in shape and it offsets the typical stresses of daily life.
How does personal fitness affect your work life? Running a business has its challenges at times. I have found my fitness routine breaks up the day and gives me a chance to focus on something else. I refer to my lunch time strength and conditioning class as adult recess… as a kid, who didn’t look forward to recess at lunch.
How does fitness or wellness affect your overall organization? It has a great impact. I know of several people in our organization who participate in regular fitness programs. They are very positive, upbeat people with a tremendous amount of energy.
What advice do you have for other executives interested in starting either a personal fitness plan or corporate wellness initiative? To start personal fitness routine, try a variety of approaches until you find one that works for you. I prefer to be in a group rather than going on a run by myself. I guess the peer pressure of the group motivates me to work harder and to regularly participate in the class.
