Fight for followers: Meerkat vs. Periscope

I've recently been asking people if they're using Meerkat or Periscope. “What's that?” is generally the response, and it's no wonder, as less than 1 percent of iOS users are using these new video apps, according to data from 7Park. That is in comparison to Snapchat's reach of nearly 30 percent. “Reach,” in this case, is the percentage defined as active monthly users of the app versus total iOS users in the U.S.

In 1676, Isaac Newton declared, “If I have seen a little further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.” This statement has been historically interpreted as the achievement of intellectual progress that capitalizes on previous discoveries of other major thinkers.

The huddle technique: How to engage a large audience and ensure understanding

Do you want to convey an important message to a large group and get commitment and buy in?

Simply standing in front of them and speaking, even if it is accompanied by a great set of PowerPoint slides, usually doesn't do it.

Keep your cool: Watch out for the ‘hot buttons’

As children we sang the rhyme, “Sticks and stones may break your bones, but words will never harm you.” In reality, that rhyme is not totally accurate. It is not unusual for a counterpart in a negotiation to attempt to push your “hot buttons.” These words and phrases are designed to get you off track and break your concentration or focus. Each of us has hot buttons and has pushed someone else's buttons in retaliation during a “heated” discussion or negotiation.
