Can Ryan mitigate partisanship?

The country will be slicing and dicing state and national election returns for weeks to try to figure out where all the chips will fall. Some of the voting dynamics will remain obscure for awhile, but other fall-outs seem relatively clear. Among them:

I've always liked the old words of wisdom: “Good fences make good neighbors.” The idea of people knowing where the boundaries are, and the responsibilities that are assigned to each side of the fence, holds true in the corporate world, too.

Racine-based Modine Manufacturing Co. reported a fiscal second quarter net loss of $12.0 million, or 26 cents per share, compared with net earnings of $1.4 million, or 3 cents per share, in the same period a year ago.

Rexnord reports robust quarter

Rexnord Corp. reported fiscal second quarter net income of $19.2 million, or 19 cents per share, up from $4.5 million, or 6 cents per share, in the same period a year ago.

Allen Edmonds expands growth plans

Port Washington-based Allen Edmonds Shoe Corp. is receiving a $20 million loan from Green Bay-based Associated Banc-Corp for expansion plans that include a lease of 30,000 square feet of existing warehouse space in Port Washington and plans for two additional stores in China.

Craft brews propel MillerCoors

MillerCoors LLC today reported a 74-percent increase in quarterly profits, sparked by continued growth in its Coors Light and Tenth and Blake Beer Co. brands.

Magnetek hires Chinese distributor

Menomonee Falls-based Magnetek Inc. announced it is expanding international distribution of its radio control products in China.
