Earnings down at Brady Corp.

Milwaukee-based Brady Corp. reported fiscal first quarter net earnings of $23.9 million, or 46 cents per share, down from $27.2 million, or 53 cents per share, in the same period a year ago.

Johnson Controls names Innovation Center after Roell

Johnson Controls Inc. named its global Innovation Center in Milwaukee's Historic Third Ward after outgoing chief executive officer Stephen Roell in a ceremony Tuesday night.

Milwaukee-based International Thermal Systems has acquired the business assets of Continental Equipment Corporation, also in Milwaukee.

Sign Effectz wins award

The Wisconsin Sign Association Inc. has given Milwaukee-based Sign Effectz Inc. a first place award for the neon sign it designed, built and installed for Divino’s Restaurant in Milwaukee.

LTL Freight Services, a Milwaukee-based shipping logistics company, has changed its name to Global Freight Source.

Conner elected to Johnson Controls board

Glendale-based Johnson Controls Inc. has elected Raymond L. Conner to its board of directors.
