Buono named managing partner at Quarles & Brady

Kathryn M. Buono has been named managing partner of the Milwaukee office of law firm Quarles & Brady LLP.

She replaces Ann M. Murphy, who led the office for the past 12 years and will continue her practice in commercial lending and public finance.

“I am delighted that Kathie has agreed to serve Quarles as Milwaukee office managing partner,” said firm chair Kimberly Leach Johnson. “She has been a model of exceptional service to our clients and the community throughout her years here, and we look forward to her applying those same values as she succeeds Ann Murphy, who has served the firm with distinction in that role.”

Buono is a partner in Quarles’ Corporate Services Practice Group and also has served as a member of Quarles’ Executive Committee, national chair of Corporate Services and leader of the Mergers & Acquisitions Team.

She has guided some of the state’s largest companies through complex mergers, acquisitions and private equity investments. Buono received a Manufacturing-Industrial Deal of the Year award and the U.S. Middle Market Deal of the Year from The M&A Advisor.

Murphy expanded the firm’s profile and earned it distinction for both legal services and commitment to the community.

As Milwaukee managing partner, Buono will continue Murphy’s work in positioning Quarles as a Midwestern legal powerhouse and encourage a good national reputation.

“It is an incredible honor to be named as the managing partner of the Milwaukee office,” Buono said. “I look forward to working with the Milwaukee team, to sustain and grow the success we’ve enjoyed, both as an individual office and as part of our national network of legal service providers.”
