*Thursday, April 16, the Wisconsin Women’s Business Initiative Corporation will hold a class on “Exploring Entrepreneurship – Do You Have What It Takes?” The free course will brief participants on the considerations they need to make in starting a business, how to begin market research and how to gauge if their business idea is feasible and sustainable. Participants will also receive resources on licensing, regulations, financing and more. The course will run from 6 to 7 p.m. in Conference Room 1 at Schlitz Park, located at 1555 N. *Monday, April 20, FUEL Milwaukee and WCREW will present a workshop that will allow attendees to explore the strength of their circle of influence. The interactive workshop will advise attendees on how to frame their professional focus and connect with key mentors and peers. The event will feature a presentation by Alonzo Kelly, founder of Kelly Leadership Group. The workshop will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Ellipse Community Room of East Library, located at 2320 N. Cramer St. in Milwaukee. *Wednesday, April 22, Marquette University president Michael Lovell will headline the Milwaukee Press Club’s Newsmaker Luncheon. Lovell will discuss the future of Marquette and the collaborations he is building with the community as he is interviewed by a panel of Milwaukee journalists. The discussion will be moderated by BizTimes executive editor Steve Jagler. The event will run from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Newsroom Pub, 137 E. Wells St. in downtown Milwaukee. The Milwaukee Press Club presents the Newsmaker Luncheons to shed light on issues of the day. The public is invited to attend the luncheons. *Wednesday, April 22, UW-Milwaukee’s School of Continuing Education will hold an information session on “First Steps to Starting a Business.” Along with learning how to evaluate the feasibility of a business idea, participants will learn how to weigh the risks and rewards of starting a business and calculate costs. The course will also cover marketing strategies, legal considerations, financial resources available to entrepreneurs and more. The course will run from 6 to 9 p.m. at the UWM School of Continuing Education, located at 161 W. Wisconsin Ave. in downtown Milwaukee. Cost is $29, and seating is limited. *Thursday, April 23, Milwaukee will hold a Well City Celebration themed “Making Wellness the Way of Work.” The program, in its seventh year, will salute the work of more than 40 area companies who together have enabled Milwaukee to become the first city to ever receive the Wellness Council of America’s Well City USA Award a second time. The event will feature a keynote address by Ryan Picarella, president of WELCOA, and recognition of participating employers. The celebration will run from 7 to 9:30 a.m. at the Italian Conference Center, located at 631 E. Chicago St. in Milwaukee. Cost for individuals is $55. *Saturday, April 25, Concordia University Wisconsin will host an education career fair at its Center for Environmental Stewardship. The fair will cater to certified teaching and administrative positions, including licensed literacy teachers, school administrators and school counselors.
