*Now through Saturday, Oct. 27, magician David Seebach will perform his annual Halloween-themed magic show, “Illusions in the Night,” at the Greenfield Performing Arts Center, 4850 S. 60th Street in Greenfield. The show is family-friendly and encourages attendees to dress up in costumes. Tickets can currently be purchased online and are also available at the box office. Tickets cost $25 for adults and $15 for children and senior citizens. For an additional $5, audience members can meet Seebach’s tiger, Sabrina, after the show. *Friday, Oct. 26, the Waukesha County Business Alliance will host its monthly One-on-One with Public Officials informational meeting from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. in the Waukesha County Business Alliance TDS Conference Room, 2717 N. Grandview Boulevard, Suite 204, in Waukesha. The event, free to attend, will feature guest Joe Pieper, president of the city of Waukesha Common Council. *Tuesday, Oct. 30, Alverno College is hosting a discussion titled “The Vital Role of Women Entrepreneurs” as part of its Alverno Forum series. The event, free and open to the public, will take place from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Sister Joel Read Center, 3400 S. 43rd Street in Milwaukee. The forum will feature speakers Wendy Baumann, of the Wisconsin Women’s Business Initiative Corporation, and Mary Beth Berkes, Alverno Trustee and Private Equity Investor, with others. Discussion topics will address the importance of entrepreneurship, challenges entrepreneurs commonly face and best practices used by successful women entrepreneurs. *Friday, Nov. 2, the Waukesha County Business Alliance will host the 12th annual World of Wines & Beer from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Davians Banquet & Conference Center, 16300 W. Silver Spring in Menomonee Falls. The event will feature more than 150 wines, 25 microbrews and treats to sample. Attendees will also be able to network with business executives and community leaders from the greater Milwaukee area and across the country. Tickets purchased before Oct. 26 cost $45 per person or $80 per couple. Tickets purchased after Oct. 26 cost $50 per person. *Thursday, Nov. 8, the Urban Economic Development Association of Wisconsin (UEDA) and the City of Milwaukee will host the 11th annual Community Development Summit. The event, titled “Completing the Circuit: Electrifying the Job Market,” will focus on workforce development with input from employers, educational institutions, nonprofits, entrepreneurs and others. Attendees will also be encouraged to actively participate in discussions surrounding workforce development challenges and initiatives. The event is scheduled to run from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at ManpowerGroup, 100 Manpower Place in Milwaukee. Registration is required and costs $35 for non-UEDA members and $25 for members. *Friday, Nov. 9, through Sunday, Nov. 11, Startup Weekend will bring entrepreneurs, graphic designers and software developers together with the goal of creating new software companies in Milwaukee. Participants can pitch their startup ideas, meet other entrepreneurial-minded individuals, get tips from some of Milwaukee’s most successful entrepreneurs and compete for startup prizes. The entrepreneurial event will take place at Marquette University’s Discovery Learning Complex, 1637 W. Wisconsin Avenue in Milwaukee. Registration is open to the public.
