Bradshaw Medical Inc. opened its doors in 2006 with four employees and $2 million in sales. Today, the company is located in a 30,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility. It has 135 employees and is on track to do $25 million in sales by the end of 2014.

The company manufactures handheld surgical instruments and devices for the spinal and orthopedic markets.

“The rapid growth is a true reflection of our dedicated employees,” said Guy Bradshaw, chief executive officer and chairman. “We’ve hired the best talent for key areas of the business, and we take excellent care of our customers and employees.”

Bradshaw Medical is always doing research to develop the latest technology to address the needs in the spinal and orthopedic fields, Bradshaw said.

“The quality of our product and service has positioned Bradshaw Medical as a leader in the industry,” Bradshaw said. “From large OEMs to small startup spine companies, we market our product line to a large audience. Bradshaw’s reputation to become a one-stop-shop in the marketplace has driven our growth since 2006.”

The Kenosha community has also played a significant role in the company’s growth, Bradshaw said.

Bradshaw Medical has worked closely with many local colleges to establish internship programs to develop and train young machinists in the community.

“In recent years we’ve partnered with Gateway Technical College and have helped develop and train young machinists many of whom began working for Bradshaw as soon as they graduated,” Bradshaw said.

Many of those individuals have grown with the company and have been key components to its success, he added.

The company also sponsors a scholarship fund for Gateway students entering specific degree programs, and has donated funds and equipment to student labs at Gateway to aid in the quality of student education.

Additionally, Bradshaw Medical is dedicated to supporting other organizations throughout the community, including the Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha, YMCA, Women and Children’s Horizons, the Education Foundation of Kenosha and many others.

“We feel very blessed to not only support our community, but have our community support us and be part of our growth,” Bradshaw said.

Bradshaw plans to double the size of the business over the next five to 10 years, he said.

“This will be a challenge, but we already have the building plans and the real estate set aside on-site to make this happen,” he said. “Controlling the growth, developing internal talent, and locating additional key personnel while maintaining or cutting costs for our customers are our biggest obstacles.”
