Bon-Ton hiring 13,000 seasonal employees

The Bon-Ton Stores Inc., which has dual headquarters in Milwaukee and York, Pa., has announced it will hire 13,000 seasonal employees to meet holiday shopping demands this year.Holiday shopping

The company operates 270 retail stores under the Boston Store, Bergner’s, Cason’s, Elder-Beerman, Herberger’s and Younkers brands.

Bon-Ton is filling both full-time and part-time roles for sales associates, sales support, receiving, and commissioned sales in cosmetics and shoes. The seasonal employees will work during the 10 biggest sale days the company hosts and earn a 20 percent associate discount. The full-time roles also offer a full benefit package.

It will also hire another 500 seasonal employees for its distribution centers and a new e-commerce fulfillment center, who will work on a variety of shifts.

The company expects the positions to be filled by mid-November. Applications are posted at www.careers.bonton.com. After the holiday season, some seasonal employees can become part-time or full-time employees.

“This is a great opportunity for individuals to join Bon-Ton and earn some extra money for the holidays,” said Denise Domian, senior vice president of human resources at The Bon-Ton Stores Inc. “We are looking for energetic people to be a part of our team during the busy holiday season.”

Bon-Ton hired the same number of seasonal employees for last year’s holiday season, a spokesperson said. The national retailer has been struggling to turn a profit in recent quarters, and the holiday season will be an important period for earnings.
