Kohl’s Corp.
Menomonee Falls-based Kohl’s Corp. recently opened 21 new stores across the nation and a new customer service and operations center in San Antonio, Texas that will serve Kohl’s Charge and Kohls.com customers nationwide. The new stores will create nearly 3,000 jobs to communities across 15 states, and the new customer service and operations center in San Antonio, which recently hired approximately 200 associates, expects to create more than 1,000 jobs over the next three years. The new Kohl’s stores were opened in Alabama, California, Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania. The company now operates 1,089 stores in 49 states. In addition to investing in new and existing stores, the new San Antonio customer service and operations center supports the growth of Kohl’s Charge business. With this facility, Kohl’s now operates three customer service and operations centers, including locations in Corsicana, Texas and Menomonee Falls.
Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin
The National Research Corporation, a health care research and quality improvement firm, has selected Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, in Wauwatosa, as a winner of its first-ever 2010 NRC Picker Path to Excellence Award. The award recognizes health care organizations for their dedication to improving the patient experience. NRC Picker Path to Excellence Award recipients were selected from NRC Picker’s database of clients within four categories. Children’s Hospital was a recipient in the children’s hospitals category. Award recipients were required to achieve a top-five ranking over the last four quarters when patients rated their overall satisfaction.
Foley & Lardner
InformationWeek recently named Foley & Lardner LLP, Milwaukee, to this year’s InformationWeek 500, an annual listing of the nation’s most innovative users of business technology. The firm was ranked among the top 200 companies on the list. According to James Kalyvas, chair of the firm’s Information Technology & Outsourcing Practice, the recognition was due in large part to the firm’s budget management tool. The Foley budget management tool is a technology developed by the firm that delivers budget analysis and reports on demand to Foley attorneys and clients. It allows users to track actual fees and expenses at any stage in a project and creates graphical reports comparing actual performance against budget estimates, thus eliminating billing surprises.
Kolb + Co.
Brookfield-based Kolb+Co. S.C. has been named one of the nation’s 2010 Best Accounting Firms to Work For. The annual list of “Best Accounting Firms” is created by Accounting Today and Best Companies Group. This survey and award program is designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in the accounting industry benefiting the nation’s economy, its workforce and businesses. The Best Accounting Firms to Work for list is made up of a total of 100 companies, split into three groups: 45 small-sized companies, 45 medium-sized companies and 10 large-sized companies. Kolb+Co. has been named one of the Best Accounting Firms to Work for in the medium category. Companies were chosen after an evaluation of workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics and an employee survey to measure employee experience. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration, survey and analysis process and determined the final rankings.
Movement Disorder Society
The Movement Disorder Society, Milwaukee, was recently honored in the Web Marketing Association’s annual award competition. The MDS website, www.movementdisorders.org, earned the WebAwards Standard of Excellence in the medical and nonprofit categories. The website was judged in seven categories: Design, Technology, Interactivity, Content, Ease of Use, Copy Writing and Innovation. MDS scored above the industry standard in each of the seven categories, thereby earning the “Standard of Excellence” recognition.
West Bend Mutual
West Bend Mutual Insurance Company was recently named the nation’s top place to work in the large property/casualty insurer category by Business Insurance magazine and the Best Companies Group. West Bend was one of 54 companies nationally recognized in the 2010 Best Places to Work in Insurance program. Seventy-five percent of the Workplace Award evaluation was based on confidential employee surveys, according to the Best Companies Group. Twenty-five percent was based on the company’s workplace policies, practices, and demographics. The large property/casualty insurer category ranks bet workplaces with 1,000 or more employees. West Bend offers their associates many amenities including an on-site bank, dry cleaning services, a 7,100-square-foot fitness center, three miles of walking trails, 20 different fitness classes, on-site massage therapist, wellness programs that include “For the Health of It” in which some associates have access to a dietician and exercise therapist to help them meet their health goals, a new-hire mentor program and on-site continuing education courses held in a state-of-the-art training facility.
