The Harley-Davidson Museum in Milwaukee recently earned a Travel Green Wisconsin certification from the state Department of Tourism.

The museum, and other businesses that has gained the certification, had to meet specific baseline environmental performance criteria on the application. The checklist contains requirements in nine different sections such as air quality, communication and education, energy efficiency, and local community benefits. Some of the innovative best practices that helped the Harley-Davidson Museum earn the certification include being the first museum to earn GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certification for cleaners and cleaning maintenance by the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute; the use of high velocity hand dryers instead of paper towels and low-flow bathroom fixtures; and the purchase of local foods.
The Travel Green Wisconsin certification is valid for one year and can be renewed annually.

Brookfield-based Superior Support Resources (SSR) has received the Outstanding Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) Award from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) and the state of Wisconsin. SSR won the MBE Award for large business. This category honors a Wisconsin company with more than 25 employees for overall excellence in sales, product, customer relations, employment, and management dimensions. To qualify for the award a company must be profitable and at least four years old. SSR is a full-service IT service firm focused on not-for-profits, state and local government agencies, and small to mid-sized businesses.
