PAVE

PAVE, a nonprofit organization devoted to enhancing educational opportunities for Milwaukee students, has announced its 2012-13 partner schools. Selected schools demonstrate high potential for cultivating educational excellence, according to PAVE. Each partner school will receive PAVE support for board development, membership with the nonprofit board governance initiative BoardSource, networking opportunities with a variety of schools, funding resources, and access to Board Corps professionals.

The 2012-13 PAVE partner schools are: Atonement Lutheran School, Bruce-Guadalupe Community School, CEO Leadership Academy, Dominican High School, Highland Community School, Hillel Academy, Hmong American Peace Academy, King’s Academy, La Causa, LUMIN, Lutheran Special School, Messmer Catholic Schools, Milwaukee Academy of Science, Milwaukee College Prep, Milwaukee Lutheran High School, Nativity Jesuit Middle School, Northwest Catholic, Notre Dame Middle School, Pius XI High School, Seeds of Health, Saint Anthony School of Milwaukee, Saint Joan Antida High School, Saint Marcus Lutheran School, Saint Thomas More High School, Urban Day School, Wisconsin Lutheran High School, and Woodlands School.

Candy Bouquet

Scott Rondeau, owner of Candy Bouquet in Wauwatosa, and his family have been honored with the Lila Marcus Award by the Epilepsy Foundation of Southeastern Wisconsin for their volunteer efforts and support of the foundation. The award highlights an individual or family committed to raising awareness of epilepsy and succeeding in the face of challenges it presents. The Rondeau family volunteers at the foundation’s annual Brainstorm Run/Walk. Candy Bouquet also supplies centerpieces for the foundation’s annual Toast of the Town auction and dinner. The family received their award at the 19th annual Toast of the Town in November.

EmPowerHR and Laurus Strategies

EmPowerHR and Laurus Strategies recently moved from suburban locations and joined offices in Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward on the second floor of the Warehouse No. 1 Building at 126 N. Jefferson St. EmPowerHR, which is a Laurus Strategies Company that caters to growing businesses with integrated HR solutions, moved its office from Mequon. Laurus Strategies, a business consulting firm, relocated its office from Waukesha. The new office in the Third Ward occupies 10,000 square feet of space. Combined the companies have 25 employees and plan to expand staff for client service and business development initiatives.

Mattress Firm

Houston-based Mattress Firm recently opened its first store in the city of Milwaukee at 3658 S. 27th St. The store occupies 5,000 square feet of space. Other Mattress Firm locations in southeastern Wisconsin include Bayshore Town Center in Glendale, Brookfield, Greenfield, Racine, and Waukesha.
