Waukesha Metal Products

Sussex-based Waukesha Metal Products has earned the Seven Seals Award from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a volunteer agency under the United States Department of Defense. The national award recognizes the manufacturing company’s continued support of individuals serving in the Armed Forces. The award features the emblems of the Unites States’ seven Reserve Components and displays in part, “For meritorious leadership and initiative in support of the men and women who serve America in the National Guard and Reserve.”

Superior Support Resources

Superior Support Resources (SSR), based in Brookfield, has been named to the Inc. 5000 list of America’s fastest-growing companies for the seventh consecutive year. The IT firm was listed as 4,864th in the country and 76th in the top 100 businesses in the state. This year’s Inc. 5000 rankings are defined by company revenue growth from 2009 to 2012. SSR experienced a near 40 percent growth rate over the past three years.

Mount Mary University

Mount Mary University, located in Milwaukee, has been awarded a $209,500 College Success grant by Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corporation to benefit its Promise Plus Project, which offers comprehensive, non-academic resources and assistance to first-generation and low income college students as they complete their degrees. The project aids students with financial obstacles, struggles connecting with peers, career and degree uncertainty, and lack of family support among other challenges. Mount Mary was one of 28 initiatives and organizations in Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin to receive funding for the 2013-14 school year. Great Lakes has distributed nearly $88 million to programs that target disadvantaged college students in the past seven years.

BizStarts

BizStarts, an area nonprofit that supports entrepreneurs in developing their businesses, will move its downtown Milwaukee office to a 5,000-square-foot space in the RiverCenter building in the Schlitz Park complex. The new space will accommodate BizStarts’ expansion efforts as it serves a broader spectrum of entrepreneurs and adds new staff. The new office will be named BizForge and will include work and meeting rooms and basic office resources. It will also incorporate room for services related to legal, technical, and investor and banking assistance. As it completes its move, the organization will retain its satellite office at 10437 Innovation Dr. in Wauwatosa’s Milwaukee County Research Park.
