Horizon Home Care & Hospice is expanding and remodeling its in-patient hospice unit at Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital Ozaukee, with a $1 million donation from the Lawlis Family Fund through the Greater Milwaukee Foundation. The expansion will add 400 square feet to the hospice facility, and each patient room will gain about 40 square feet. Total square footage of the building will equal 13,400 square feet once the project is complete. The expansion and remodeling will include more family space and gathering areas, more lighting and windows, more furnishings and a new outdoor deck. Horizon Home Care & Hospice, which serves as Wisconsin’s second largest full-service home care company and hospice, aims to complete the expansion and renovation of the recently named Lawlis Family Hospice unit by May. The nonprofit organization is also extending its lease with Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital Ozaukee another 20 years and will consider establishing in-patient hospice units in other area hospitals.
