Best Buddies in need of volunteers for Friendship Walks

Learn more about:

Best Buddies Wisconsin is in need of 40 adult volunteers for two of its upcoming Friendship Walks, which benefit expansion efforts among the nonprofit organization’s chapters and help fund new friendship programs among kids, adults and people with disabilities.

Best Buddies hosts five walks throughout the Wisconsin to promote its mission of fostering friendship, employment opportunities and leadership development for people with disabilities.

By hosting a number of walk events, the organization can more easily include all students involved in its 40 chapters throughout southeastern Wisconsin.

“We want to give all those students an opportunity to participate in the walk,” said Andrea Brinkman, deputy director of development at Best Buddies Wisconsin.

On Saturday, May 18, a Friendship Walk will wind its way through Lapham Peak in Delafield. On Sunday, May 19, a separate walk will take place at Kapco Park at Concordia University Wisconsin in Mequon.

Best Buddies anticipates about 500 participants at each event and hopes to raise at least $80,000 between the two walks.

Volunteers are needed at both sites to assist with registration, serve as route marshals, direct parking and more. To find more information or sign up, click here.
