Anderson to retire as Irish Fest executive director

Jane Anderson, executive director of Milwaukee Irish fest for the past 30 years has announced she will step down at the end of 2012. Her decision has been made after a two year succession planning process with Irish Fest board of directors, staff and key volunteers.
“I’ve been extremely fortunate to work with such an outstanding organization over the past 30 years,” said Anderson. “I’m proud of what we accomplished. More importantly, I’m excited for the future of the organization and the many great things to come. After 30 wonderful years, I’m ready to take on new challenges and spend more time pursuing personal interests. I will always be a part of Irish Fest – it’s like a family to me.”
Anderson will continue to serve as executive director through Dec. 31, 2012.
A board selection committee will be created to launch a national search to recruit, screen and recommend a new executive director to succeed Anderson.
“Jane has been a big part of the growth and success of our organization over the years,” said Donna Brady, President of the Board of Directors for Milwaukee Irish Fest. “Her passion for the festival and our organization has played an important role in establishing Irish Fest as one of North America’s premier authorities on Irish heritage, culture and music. The Irish Fest family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Jane for her years of service and tireless dedication to the organization.”
This year’s festival will take place Thursday, Aug. 16 through Sunday, Aug. 19 at Henry W Maier Festival Park.
