Wal-Mart to expand Delafield store

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. plans to build a 27,484-square-foot addition onto its Delafield store at 2863 Heritage Dr. to convert it into an 118,000-square-foot supercenter store. The expansion will essentially add a grocery section to the existing 90,576-square-foot store.

The expansion project is expected to begin soon and be completed next year.

Wal-Mart is also building new supercenter stores in Muskego and Waukesha. Both will be complete in late October.

The company is also working on plans to expand its Saukville and Whitewater stores, adding a grocery department to convert them into supercenter stores.

Wal-Mart plans to eventually convert all of its regular discount stores into larger supercenter stores with a grocery section, said spokeswoman Lisa Nelson.

"That’s what our customers want," she said.
