John Goetter, principal and vice president of GRAEF’s Milwaukee office, has been recognized with STEM Forward’s 2014 Professional Engineer of the Year Award. Stem Forward is a regional technical organization that leads educational outreach programs geared toward science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). The organization also saluted Bridget Henk, project engineer at GRAEF’s Milwaukee office, as the Young Engineer of the Year. Goetter, who retired at the end of last year, devoted most of his 44-year career to working at GRAEF and heading the Milwaukee office’s facilities group. His professional experience has included high-profile government, commercial, industrial and institutional projects, and he has been a critical part of projects for the Midwest Airlines Center, General Mitchell International Airport, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Architecture, and the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts. Henk has continued to challenge herself with complex design projects and is at the forefront of refining the standards of GRAEF’s storm water management group. She has also worked on drainage analysis for the Lakefront Gateway project as well as acted as a design engineer for the Milwaukee Avenue Utility and Street Reconstruction in Wauwatosa and the Community Memorial Hospital Expansion in Menomonee Falls. Both Goetter and Henk were recognized at the annual Engineers Week Banquet on Feb. 12 at the Italian Conference Center.

Milwaukee-based Foley & Lardner LLP in February introduced a new service to help companies with operations overseas comply with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. The web-based service, known as Foley Global Risk Solutions, provides business users with a fully integrated FCPA compliance solution. According to the law firm, FCPA enforcement presents a critical risk for middle-market companies, not just giant corporations. Foley Global Risk Solutions, which is available for a fixed annual subscription fee, acts as a closed-loop program that provides: information on risk assessments, current policies and procedures, training for employees, regular communications, and access to legal counsel on FCPA issues that emerge. Foley teamed up with New York City-based Neota Logic, a no-code platform that supports the development of rules-based software applications.
Melk Music
Melk Music, a band and orchestra instrument sales, rental and service specialist, plans to move from its longtime Milwaukee location to New Berlin. The family-owned and -operated company has been located at 8625 W. Adler St. in Milwaukee for almost 60 years but outgrew the space. Fred Melk is the third generation owner of the business, and his son Brian represents the fourth generation. The new address will be 12805 W. Janesville Road in New Berlin. The store is all on one level, with an accessible design and an onsite parking lot. The new location will continue to offer full teaching studios for lessons and also a large space for group classes, visiting artists and recitals. Melk will open the doors at the new location in May.
