BizTimes Media LLC is expanding its award-winning editorial team by adding Daniel Shafer as a reporter.
Shafer most recently had served as managing editor of the ThirdCoast Digest web site in Milwaukee, where he edited and produced content. He previously was a community columnist at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and served as an intern at WITI-Fox 6.
A native of Pewaukee, Shafer graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and an emphasis on political science.
At BizTimes, Shafer will cover the health care and technology beats and will oversee several special projects.
In the newsroom, Shafer will join reporters Molly Newman and Erica Breunlin. Newman’s primary beats include finance and manufacturing. Breunlin covers human resources, education, social media and the nonprofit industry.
The BizTimes editorial staff, which has received awards from the Alliance of Area Business Publications for being one of the best local business news outlets in the nation in the past two years, is led by executive editor Steve Jagler and managing editor Andrew Weiland.
