*Thursday, Aug. 14, the Waukesha County Business Alliance will hold a “Networking After 5” event at Pro Health Care Waukesha’s Memorial Hospital, located at 725 American Avenue in Waukesha. “Networking After 5” gatherings, typically held every other month, give Waukesha County businesses and professionals an opportunity to get to know one another, learn about each other’s offerings, exchange referrals and explore potential partnerships. *Thursday, Aug. 14, Jazz in the Park will put the spotlight on 5 Card Studs with special guest Jim Liban. 5 Card Studs, a five-man band, is known for playing Las Vegas-styled tunes and renditions of songs from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. The music will run from 6 to 9 p.m. with a Happy Hour starting at 5 p.m. Jazz in the Park, presented by Boston Store and Columbia St. Mary’s, is held each Thursday in Cathedral Square Park in downtown Milwaukee through Sept. 4. The summer concerts, which draw musicians from across the region and country, are free and open to the public and also feature food and beverage vendors onsite. *Thursday, Aug. 14, through Sunday, Aug. 17, Irish Fest returns to Milwaukee with authentic Irish food, beverages, merchandise and dancing at Henry Maier Festival Park Highlights of this year’s fest include a marketplace, a yeast banking contest, photo and poetry contests, a 5K run/walk, and live performances by Gaelic Storm. The festival will run from 5 to 10 p.m. on Thursday, 4 p.m. to midnight on Friday, noon to midnight on Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday. Cost is $17 for general admission and $12 for seniors age 60 and older. On Thursday, admission costs $5 from 5 to 10 p.m. and is complimentary for patrons who donate schools supplies to benefit children from Hope House. On Friday, admission costs $5 between 4 and 5:30 p.m. Children age 12 and under can get into the festival for free all four days. Henry Maier Festival Park is located at 200 N. *Thursday, Aug. 14, through Sunday, Aug. 17, Milwaukee IndyFest comes to southeastern Wisconsin. The annual race event is grounded by IndyCar races on Saturday and Sunday at the Milwaukee Mile, located along West Washington Street in West Allis. Track activities are scheduled to run from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday. Pre-race festivities include a special “Bartender Challenge” on Thursday at 5 p.m. at Miller Time Pub, “MIKE IndyFest Bike Night” on Thursday at 5 p.m. at the Harley-Davidson Museum, and a “Rock the Block IndyFest Street Party” on Friday evening. *Wednesday, Aug. 20, Women’s FOCUS, Inc.’s meeting will feature speaker Dr. Terry Ziegler, a chiropractor and partner with the Grafton Chiropractic Center. The August program covers the theme “The Anti-inflammatory Lifestyle” and will largely focus on “busting myths” while exploring aspects of health and nutrition, according to Women’s FOCUS. Ziegler has more than 30 years of experience in the chiropractic discipline of medicine. The program, which is open to both Women’s FOCUS members and guests, will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the Ozaukee Country Club, located at 10823 N. River Road in Mequon. Cost is $22. *Wednesday, Aug. 20, the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce will hold a free orientation to educate new members, long-time members and prospective members about the scope of its offerings. The orientation will give attendees a chance to learn about the specific benefits of MMAC membership and will also give them an opportunity to network with other area business professionals. The orientation will run from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at the MMAC’s offices, located at 756 N. Milwaukee Street, fourth floor, in downtown Milwaukee. *Thursday, Aug. 21, Wisconsin Women Entrepreneurs-Greater Milwaukee and Women Business Owners Network will team up to host a wine tasting event. The event will celebrate the end of summer and will feature a variety of wines and hors d’oeuvres. The tasting will run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Water 2 Wine, located at 17135 W. Bluemound Road in Brookfield. Early registration (before Aug. 20) costs $20, and late registration/walk-in costs $25. For more information, click here.

*Saturday, Aug. 23, IndependenceFirst will hold an electronic recycling drive at the Pettit National Ice Center, located at 500 S. 84th Street in Milwaukee. The drive will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will accept old and no longer needed computers, laptops, cell phones, tablets, appliances and TVs, computer accessories, small electronics, fans and more. Individuals dropping off TVs will be charged a $10 fee due to increased disposal cost. That fee will apply to TVS of all tube sizes and wooden cabinet TVs but will not apply to flat panel TVS or rear projection. Data destruction on all donated laptops and computers will comply with identity theft prevention standards. Old computer equipment will be donated to IndependenceFirst to benefit individuals with disabilities who otherwise might not be able to afford a computer. Equipment will also help those individuals build up critical job skills, pursue jobs or housing and gain peer support. For more information on the drive, call IndependenceFirst at 414-291-7520.
