Marquette University has named Douglas Fisher director of the school’s Center for Supply Chain Management in its Department of Management.
Fisher, a partner at Cascade Consulting Partners Inc., an Oregon-based management consulting firm, formerly taught at Auburn University in Alabama.
Fisher has extensive experience in the freight transportation industry. He previously served in management positions with several logistics and shipping firms. His duties at Marquette will include teaching courses in operations and supply management, as well as strengthening and creating new relationships between the university and industry.
"They have a good supply chain program with about 80 students, and that’s a good-sized program to start with," Fisher said. "And they wanted someone who is capable of reaching out to businesses, and I think I can do that. And Milwaukee is an exciting place to be. It’s a good sized town and there’s a lot to do."
Fisher will be moving to Milwaukee later this week to prepare for the coming school year.
