A grand opening celebration was held recently for Lakeshore State Park, the new 17-acre state park created just east of the Summerfest grounds. The $17 million park was created on top of an island of boulders that were excavated during the 1980s deep tunnel project by the Metropolitan Milwaukee Sewerage District.
