Milwaukee area resident’s will be able to get fresh vegetables and other local products this winter season because the Milwaukee County Winter Farmer’s Market  will open for its third season at the Tommy Thompson Youth Center at State Fair Park on Saturday, Nov. 5.
The market will be open from 8 a.m. to noon every Saturday until April 14.
"The Milwaukee County Winter Farmers is staffed by a manager and volunteers that help keep the market running smoothly and help foster a welcoming environment that we, and customers, feel every Saturday,” said David Kozlowski, a participating farmer and market board member. “It’s a good place to be on even the coldest mornings."
Farmers in Wisconsin use innovative methods to grow and store fruits and vegetables all year round. The market showcases growers who preserve heritage animal breeds, antique apples and heirloom vegetables.
The market began in 2009 through sponsorship from the Wisconsin Apple Growers Association (WAGA) and grant funding through the Agricultural Marketing Service of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). This will be the first year, the Milwaukee County Winter Farmer’s Market will function as a 501(C)3 organization.
