WATER: Noah Technologies: Ultimate leak protection

Learn more about:

Peace of mind is a valuable commodity. Milwaukee-based Noah Technologies and its Intelli-Sensor provide just that for consumers and business owners worried about water leaks in their homes and offices.

“Intelli-Sensor is a large-area water leak detection system that can wirelessly trigger shut-off valves in your home or office if a leak is detected,” said David Rice, president.

After a plumber installs the unique shut-off valve at the source of the water supply, battery-operated sensors are placed throughout the building in areas where leaks will typically occur – under sinks, in laundry rooms and in kitchens.
“We utilize a patented technology that measures the volume of water present in a certain surface area,” Rice said. “The technology can decipher whether it’s a true leak, a water spill or simply condensation or damp floors. That’s important.”
When a leak is detected, a wireless signal is sent to the receiver valve to turn off the water supply, two alarms go off and “Leak Detection” messages are sent via text message or email.

The company has installed 125 units in a building in Naples, Florida. In a little more than a year, 93 leaks have been detected and there have been no insurance claims.

Noah Technologies hopes to form partnerships with plumbing and insurance companies in the area who can promote the technology to their customers.
“Water damage can be very expensive,” Rice said. “Not to mention all the items in a person’s home or business they consider irreplaceable. There are a lot of applications where these sensors would be useful; we’re currently exploring those options.”
