UnitedHealthcare pays $13.1 million in rebates to Illinois members

The second-largest health insurer in the state is giving policyholders $13.1 million in rebates to comply with federal rules that set a minimum for how much they must spend on care.

UnitedHealthcare of Illinois must pay out an average of $58.39 per eligible member for individual policies, $120.56 per member for small group policies and $53.79 per member in large group policies, a spokesman said.

United and Louisville, Ky.,-based Humana Group were the only insurers among the top five largest health carriers in Illinois to pay out rebates.
